Ptychopetalum olacoides, Muira puamaPtychopetalum olacoides, Muira puama Muira Puama is a small tree native to the Brazilian Amazon. It has been in the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia since the 1950s. Brazilians consider it a powerful aphrodisiac and sexual tonic. It is also used for asthenia and paralysis, neuromuscular problems, baldness, menstrual ailments, rheumatism and nervous system disorders. The German Commission E Monograph has not approved Muira Puama due to the lack of research.
