Amiloride, Midamor, Moduretic Description Amiloride is a potassium-sparing diuretic. Action potassium-sparing diuretic Indications Hypertension Side Effects abdominal pain, angina, anorexia, aplastic anemia, azotemia, bladder spasm, constipation, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, dyspnea, dysuria, encephalopathy, fatigue, headache, hyperkalemia, hypochloremia, hyponatremia, hypotension, impotence, jaundice, leukopenia, libido decrease, metabolic acidosis, muscle cramping, nausea/vomiting, neutropenia, orthostatic hypotension, palpitations, pancytopenia, polyuria, sinus bradycardia, visual impairment, weakness, Drug-Vitamin-Herb Interactions Negative interactions: Arginine High doses of arginine may alter potassium levels. Licorice Licorice causes the body to lose potassium, which may counteract the drug action. Magnesium Potassium-sparing diuretics may cause magnesium retention. Potassium Potassium supplementation raise the levels too high. Zinc Amiloride may cause the body to retain zinc.
