Description

Bupropion is an antidepressant of the aminoketone class. It is a selective catecholamine (norepinephrine and dopamine) reuptake inhibitor.

anti-depressant, inhibits dopamine reuptake

Indications

major depression

Side Effects

agitation, anorexia, anxiety, blurred vision, confusion, constipation, diaphoresis, dizziness, dysgeusia, hallucinations, headache, hypertension, insomnia, libido decrease, maculopapular rash, menstrual irregularity, nausea/vomiting, palpitations, paranoia, premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), pruritus, psychosis, restlessness, seizures, tremor, ventricular tachycardia, weight loss, xerostomia

Drug-Vitamin-Herb Interactions


Negative interactions:

Sedative herbs: Kava, Valerian, Passionflower, Hops
Sedative herbs may cause excess sedation when combined with antidepressants.

Tyrosine
Tyrosine is a precursor to catecholamines (dopamine).
