Labetalol, Normodyne, Trandate Description Labetalol is an alpha-1 and beta adrenergic blocker used to treat high blood pressure. Action alpha-1 and beta-blocker Indications Labetalol has a particular indication in the treatment of pregnancy-induced hypertension. Side Effects alopecia, AV block, depression, dizziness, dyspnea, ejaculation dysfunction, exfoliative dermatitis, fatigue, headache, heart failure, hepatic necrosis, hypotension, impotence, jaundice, libido decrease, nausea/vomiting, orthostatic hypotension, paresthesias, priapism, pruritus, sinus bradycardia, skin hyperpigmentation, syncope, urinary retention, wheezing, xerosis, Drug-Vitamin-Herb Interactions Negative interactions: Calcium Calcium may form unabsorbable complex with atenolol. Take at a different time of day. Coleus forskohlii Coleus forskohlii relaxes blood vessels. Combining Coleus with beta-blockers may have unpredicatable effects on blood pressure. Positive interactions: Chromium Beta-blockers reduce HDL. Chromium can offset the adverse effect. Coenzyme Q10 Beta-blockers (especially propanolol) inhibit the actions of enzymes that contain CoQ10.
